2022 Zbrush Sculpt Off Entry - A Girl and Her Zenguin

This was my final submission for the 2022 Zbrush Sculpt Off. This piece was completed in a 3 hour timeframe and streamed live on Twitch.
The prompt I chose was Zen and I had the idea of a girl meditating with a Zen Penguin (Or a Zenguin if you will)
I utilized Stable Diffusion a bit to help brainstorm the concepts and then did some quick sketches in both 2D and 3D to flesh out the idea some more. I did a few practice runs to really iron out what I wanted and what could adequately be completed in the 3 hour time frame. After several rounds of revisions and concepting I landed on the idea of the girl being very zen and peaceful and the penguin being very distracted and unable to sit still. The penguin becomes a bit symbolic of literally sitting with your thoughts during a meditation session. When you are trying to just focus on your breath your thoughts constantly interrupt you and can't sit still. Much like this penguin. I guess he's not much of a Zenguin yet. He still has a lot more training to do!

This was a super fun project and coming up with original concepts is not a strong point of mine so it was a good exercise for me and I hope to do more of that in the future!

I polished a couple of things on the Sculpt Off Entry and then set it up in Marmoset for a quick render. I wanted to keep it as close to the final submission as possible but tweaked a couple of small things that bugged me on the sculpt.

The penguin went through several different concepts. I debated having him be peaceful and calm or being more mischievous and impatient just waiting for the meditation session to be over :)
